BACKING TRACKS FOR WIND AND BRASS INSTRUMENTS - COMING SOON

We are currently creating a series of backing tracks for practice and ear training. These will become available on this site soon.

For beginners who can play scales without referring to a score sheet we have a number of modern tracks in different keys and styles. Because the key does not change, they are great for practicing scales, patterns getting you playing freely in any key.

A metronome is a vital tool but playing with backing tracks trains your ear and provides a strong sense of rhythm.

For the more experienced players who are starting to practice in all 12 keys, we have tracks  based on II-V-I, chromatic modal and cyclic progressions. Most importantly the tracks will start at a tempo most intermediate players will welcome and in some cases we break out the individual tracks so that you can concentrate on weak areas.

Once you are able, with the help of a metronome, to get the pattern under your fingers, the backing tracks will enable you to compress you practice time and really open your ears to the chord changes as you progress.

We are working on backing tracks for the Major Key section of the “Patterns for Jazz” Book Treble Clef Instruments, SB1 ISBN 0-89898-703-2. Eb, Bb and Concert Key Versions are underway.  Patterns for Jazz is a valuable tool for ear and technical training in any genre of music.

Although we do suggest some generic patterns to use, these tracks are practice aids, we do not teach and actively encourage you to learn with an online school or teacher.
